The Total Rewards Experience in 2030: Ten Bold Shifts at the Intersection of AI, Work, and Pay

This immersive disruption lab draws directly from the upcoming Workforce 2030 event and explores how AI, automation, and evolving work models are fundamentally reshaping the Total Rewards experience. This session examines 10 bold shifts already emerging in how work is performed, how roles are defined, and how rewards are experienced.

As work continues to change in real time, participants explore how traditional Total Rewards assumptions—such as static jobs, annual cycles, and one-size-fits-all programs—are increasingly being challenged. At the same time, skill fluidity, AI-enabled decision-making, and new expectations around flexibility and personalization are accelerating the pace of change. Because of this, the session is designed to help HR and Total Rewards leaders recognize early signals, pressure-test current practices, and begin preparing for what’s coming next.

PARTICIPANTS WILL EXPERIENCE

  • Ten future-facing shifts drawn from Workforce 2030 research and real-world signals

  • Interactive “Future Snapshot” activities that challenge current Total Rewards assumptions

  • Peer dialogue focused on how AI and changing work models are already influencing rewards decisions

  • Facilitated sense-making that connects future trends to today’s Total Rewards practices

WHY THIS SESSION MATTERS

Total Rewards strategies designed for yesterday’s work will not hold in 2030. As a result, leaders who wait for certainty risk falling behind those who begin adapting now. By contrast, this session helps HR and Total Rewards professionals move from awareness to preparedness by identifying practical implications early and translating insight into action.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify emerging shifts reshaping the Total Rewards experience by 2030

  • Evaluate how AI and evolving work models are influencing pay, incentives, and rewards design

  • Recognize where current Total Rewards practices may no longer align with future work

  • Apply future-oriented thinking to near-term Total Rewards decisions
